Guides for people who shoot with more than one camera: travel, storage, files and gear.
iCloud
Google and Apple run a direct transfer from Google Photos to iCloud Photos, with no download needed. Here is what has to be set up first, what does not make it across, where the files end up, and when the slower manual route through a Mac is the better choice.
Google Photos
Google's free 15 GB is shared between Gmail, Drive and Photos, and backups you forgot about count too. Here is how to see what is using it, what stops working when you are over, and how to free space without throwing away the originals of photos and videos you care about.
Amazon Photos
There is no direct transfer from Google Photos to Amazon Photos. Amazon's own instructions use Google Takeout and the desktop app's backup folder. Here is that route, with the two things that catch people: videos count against storage even on Prime, and some photo types are not supported.
Travel
Reference weights from the makers for the gear people actually travel with: APS-C and compact cameras, drones by takeoff weight, action, 360 and pocket cameras, phones, tablets and smart glasses. Then a simple spreadsheet to total your own kit and what the makers' numbers leave out.
Mirrorless
The Sony A7C II is 514 g with battery and card, which makes it one of the lightest full-frame bodies with a viewfinder. Here are three travel kits built around it, from a 681 g walk-around kit to a two-lens kit, with batteries, charging, backups and the weight of adding a drone and a 360 camera.
Smart Glasses
Smart glasses record point-of-view clips no other camera can: hands free, at eye level, from a 52 to 69 g frame. Here are Meta's camera glasses compared on video, battery, weight and launch price, what they are good and bad at as a camera, and how they fit a multi-camera kit.
Travel
Most camera, drone and USB-C chargers accept 100-240 V, so abroad you need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter. 94 of the 107 cameras and drones in our database charge over USB-C, which lets one multi-port charger replace a bag of chargers. Here is how to check, and the exceptions.
Travel
A checklist for trips with more than one camera: what to check the week before, the power and storage you need, drone paperwork, and how to pack so security and gate checks take seconds. Built around what actually goes wrong: dead batteries, full cards and a bag taken at the gate.
Action Cameras
Fourteen action cameras from GoPro, DJI and Insta360 compared on weight, battery and storage, with the flagships' sensor sizes, top video modes and waterproof depths. Then which to choose for low light, long recording, the smallest mount, and staying in one ecosystem.
Drones
Under 250 g frees you from registration in the US and Canada for recreational flying, but not in the EU, and in the UK the threshold is now 100 g. Here is every sub-250 g drone in our database with its takeoff weight, battery and sensor, plus the accessories that push a drone over the line.
Mirrorless
The lightest full-frame bodies weigh about 420 to 520 g with a battery and card: the Sigma fp and BF, Canon EOS R8 and RP, Sony ZV-E1, Lumix S9 and the Sony A7C II and A7CR. Here is every full-frame body in our database ranked by the maker's own weight, with what you give up at the light end.
Drones
The Mini 2 has a 12 MP sensor, 4K30 and no obstacle sensing. The Mini 4 Pro adds a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 10-bit video and all-round sensing. The Mini 5 Pro moves to a 1-inch sensor and adds LiDAR and 42 GB of storage, but its weight tolerance can take it over 250 g.
